San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch is slated to speak at the NFL combine on Wednesday in his first media appearance since his end-of-season press conference in early January.

Lynch will be on the podium talking to reporters at 11:00am Pacific Time on Wednesday, Feb. 26, according to an announcement from the NFL. Head coach Kyle Shanahan is one of seven head coaches not slated to speak.

It’s unclear whether Shanahan will attend the combine. He’s typically avoided the event, but Matt Barrows on the ’49ers +/-‘ podcast said he believes it’s likely Shanahan will go to the league’s premier pre-draft event in Indianapolis.

Other head coaches not scheduled to speak are Green Bay Packers’ Matt LaFleur, Los Angeles Chargers’ Jim Harbaugh, New York Giants’ Brian Daboll, Los Angeles Rams’ Sean McVay, Pittsburgh Steelers’ Mike Tomlin and New Orleans Saints’ Kellen Moore.

For Lynch it will likely be the typical pre-draft questions addressing how he feels about the draft class at various positions of need for the 49ers. He’ll likely get a few questions about quarterback Brock Purdy as well. Purdy and the 49ers are expected to work out a long-term extension at some point this offseason. The update from Lynch on Wednesday at the combine could give us a ton of insight into where things stand in those contract talks.
