49ers receive good news on the injury front about Javon Hargrave and Charvarius Ward

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided some injury updates on Monday afternoon, and mostly received good news regarding their core players.

Oren Burks, who only played six snaps against Seattle in Week 14, is being shut down for the next couple of weeks due to knee tendinitis. Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles played ten snaps at linebacker in Burks’ absence.

The 49ers rely on two linebackers in most of their packages, so the health of Dre Greenlaw will be critical moving forward with Burks banged up. Greenlaw is day-to-day this week with a hip and ankle injury. Greenlaw returning to the game is a positive sign that he’ll be available this week.

As for the defensive tackles, Arik Armstead “might miss one more game,” according to Shanahan. Javon Hargrave, who Shanahan said may have pulled a hamstring on Sunday, has a chance to play next week after all. That’s great news for the 49ers since Armstead is already out.

Charvarius Ward also has a chance to play next Sunday with a groin injury. Ward was only on the field for four plays against the Seahawks. We’ll see if the 49ers give Hargrave and Ward the week off with the Ravens matchup looming and that being a must-win game for seeding purposes.
