The San Francisco 49ers suffered the following injuries during their preseason finale:

OT Isaiah Prince (knee)
TE Brayden Willis (neck)
QB Tanner Mordecai (ankle)
CB Jakob Robinson (forearm)

Head coach Kyle Shanahan was asked how long second-year wide receiver Jacob Cowing would be out for, to which Shanahan responded, “A while.” Cowing pulled the same hamstring he hurt earlier in training camp and will miss at least six weeks.

We’re coming up on a month since Jauan Jennings practiced. Shanahan expects Jennings to be back by Week 1, provided his calf heals. He added, “But you never know with calves.” Shanahan added, “I’m not a doctor,” when asked whether Jennings’ calf injury would be recurring this season.

Skyy Moore played during the preseason finale. He lined up in the slot and handled punts. That was what the 49ers drafted Cowing to do. We’ll see how much of Shanahan’s offense Moore can cram ahead of Week 1.

Rookie round up

Shanahan believes cornerback Jakob Robinson suffered a broken forearm: “We’ve got to X-Ray it for sure and everything, but that’s what it sounded like.”

Rookie running back Jordan James remains week to week with a broken finger. Shanahan said James is “pretty close” to returning.

Shanahan hasn’t received any guarantees, but he sounded optimistic that rookies Mykel Williams and Upton Stout return to practice next week.
