Can 49ers’ Brock Purdy handle the stormy weather in Cleveland? (paywall)
“Sloppy weather might mitigate one of Purdy’s strengths: his ability to escape pressure and extend plays. And he doesn’t have big hands for gripping and controlling a slick football. The average hand size for an NFL quarterback is 9 3/4 inches. That puts Purdy’s 9 1/4-inch mitts on the smaller end and behind those of the three other quarterbacks in the 49ers’ locker room: Mac Jones (9 3/4), Adrian Martinez (9 5/8) and Kurtis Rourke (9 3/8).”
Why Robert Saleh is thrilled Ji’Ayir Brown didn’t follow directions in MNF win
“Brown’s assignment was to cover the deep middle of the field on a second-and-8 play from the 49ers’ 33-yard line in the fourth quarter. The 49ers were protecting an 11-point lead.
Instead, Brown allowed two Carolina Panthers receivers to get deep while Brown set his sights Tetairoa McMillan over the middle….If he did it by the book, he wouldn’t have made that play,” Saleh said. “And, so, he’s improving big time with regard to understanding the game and being more of a football player.”
Brown, a third-year pro, has solidified his job after rookie Marquis Sigle replaced him in the starting lineup at the opening of the 2025 NFL season. Brown worked hard to get back on the field, and he has earned Saleh’s confidence with his work habits.
“If you say there’s 60 plays, there might be three or four times in a game where you just know what that play’s going to be,” Saleh said. “You know it. And you’ve got to have the confidence through film study and the confidence in one another, confidence in your teammates and coaches, and we’ve got to have confidence in our players that when they know, they know, and they go take that shot.”
Saleh showed his exuberance on the sideline as Brown made the interception that amounted to a game-clinching defensive play.
“People look at it as one play, but there are probably six hours dedicated to that one moment,” Saleh said. “And it happened. And so, the joy you’re seeing on the field is for him and the amount of work that you know that he went through and the amount of trial and error that he had to go through.”

49ers stars reveal their favorite Thanksgiving foods ahead of Browns matchup
“”My wife’s family, they have a family recipe of pineapple stuffing,” Juszczyk shared. “Sounds crazy, but it’s absolutely delicious.”
Robert Saleh shares high praise of Shedeur Sanders in candid scouting report
““He’s a good, young quarterback. He’s mobile, he’s got a big arm, tremendous confidence,” Saleh told reporters. “He made a couple of really, really good throws in the game against Vegas, extending plays, getting out of the pocket, delivering the ball where it needed to be delivered. Obviously, he showed good command of the huddle and at the line of scrimmage. You anticipate someone like him who’s got that confidence, who has that skill set, he’s just going to get better and better every week.”
Why Christian McCaffrey cherishes impact of 49ers greats Roger Craig, Frank Gore
“Huge impact. I’ve watched those guys, seen highlights of Roger growing up and then I watched Frank my whole life,” McCaffrey said. “Got a chance to even practice against him when he was in Buffalo for a little bit and pick his brain a little bit. Now it’s just seeing him on the practice field or the locker room every once in a while, being able to chop it up with him has been an honor.”
