Brian Robinson provides 49ers better thump, more options as WR depth remains thin (paywall)
“The 49ers, in fact, hosted Robinson on a pre-draft visit in April 2022. Running backs coach Bobby Turner was recovering from knee surgery that season, and Turner’s protege, Anthony Lynn, served as Robinson’s tour guide for the visit.
Robinson noted Monday that Lynn has been the Commanders’ running backs coach for the past two seasons, which ought to make for a smooth transition in San Francisco. He said the 49ers’ verbiage is different, but the concepts are similar to what he ran with Washington.
“It’s the same footwork, the same reads, the same everything,” he said.“
49ers rookies Mykel Williams, CJ West return to practice after knee injuries
“Right guard Dominick Puni appears to be much further along in his bid to be physically ready for the 49ers’ Week 1 game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Puni went through physical therapy and conditioning while his teammates had an hour-long practice. He was seen running and looking much better just nine days after sustaining a knee injury in the 49ers’ preseason game against the Raiders. He appears to be tracking toward getting back in the lineup for the start of the regular season.“
49ers practice report: Brian Robinson says he and Christian McCaffrey will be NFL’s ‘best duo’ (paywall)
“Nickel back Upton Stout (calf), who last practiced on Aug. 7, remained among those still not healthy enough to go although he appeared to be moving extremely well on the side. A given drill saw him simulate press coverage, jamming an imaginary wide receiver before turning his hips and accelerating to shadow the route. He broke into full sprints on multiple occasions. Shanahan said postgame Saturday that Stout and Williams could both return this week, depending upon the results from a weekend workout.”
