49ers claim linebacker off waivers, place Ben Bartch on IR
“Throughout his five-year career with the Texans (2021-23), Tennessee Titans (2023-24) and Broncos (2025), Wallow has appeared in 42 games (five starts) and registered 36 tackles, 1.0 sack and 1 pass defensed in addition to 11 special teams tackles. In 2025, he appeared in seven games with the Broncos and tallied five special teams tackles prior to being waived by the team on December 6.”

49ers rookie QB Kurtis Rourke hopes to prove worthy of being linked with Brock Purdy (paywall)
“He played last season with a bulky brace on right leg after he suffered what he believed was a partially torn ACL in a summer practice, and then he missed only one game after he had surgery on the thumb on his throwing hand. Rourke had knee surgery in January, discovering after Indiana’s playoff loss to Notre Dame that his injury was more extensive than he realized.
“It wasn’t until after the season when my agent and I decided to get an MRI, because there were some weird feelings (in the knee), and it didn’t feel completely right,” Rourke said. “And so we’re able to get the news that it was torn fully. But I was just glad to get through the season.”
A year later, Rourke is grateful to just get on the practice field this season. As far as future seasons, he hopes to prove he’s worthy of being likened to Purdy, who has provided an example that Rourke termed a “blessing.”
“What he showed me is how detailed and how focused he is,” Rourke said. “And that if there’s an opportunity out there, he’s going to make the most of it, and that’s what I plan to do. Starting with my practice (window) being open, and then moving forward.”
How 49ers’ Skyy Moore found his groove by facing his fear, leading to many happy returns (paywall)
“In 2022 Moore, now 25, was a rookie wide receiver with the Chiefs. Kansas City, on its way to a Super Bowl title, used the second-round pick as a punt returner to help break him in. And the experience nearly broke Moore…He managed just 6.1 yards on 14 returns, but his below-average average wasn’t the biggest issue: He had three fumbles, losing two, and misjudged other kicks that became heart-stopping fair catches. He was benched after 10 games. The demotion inspired feelings of embarrassment — and relief.
“It got in my head mentally, and I found myself being scared to go back there and I did not want to do it,” Moore said. “But where I’m at now? It’s like I’m really catching my groove and this is my thing.”….In August, moments after Moore was traded, he said he received a text message from Reid, who has won three Super Bowls with the Chiefs after he was fired, known as someone who couldn’t win the big one, after 14 title-less seasons with the Eagles.
Moore, who had 43 catches in his first three seasons, was burdened by the baggage that comes with being a high-round pick in Kansas City. He has four catches this season, but he’s been celebrated for outperforming modest expectations with the 49ers.
“Coach Reid told me, in hindsight going from Philly to K.C. was the best thing for him,” Moore said. “And sometimes you just need new scenery. He was like, ‘You’re a good football player. Don’t look at this as a negative. This could be a big thing for your career.’ So I just took that mindset and just ran with it.”
With Brock Purdy healthy, the 49ers’ offense has a key ingredient back: QB mobility (paywall)
“Shanahan said a few weeks back that he didn’t think Purdy’s toe would be completely healed during the season, and Purdy said he can feel it sometimes after waking up or during pregame warmups or after games.
“But when I’m out there, the adrenaline’s going, and I’m worried about playing quarterback,” Purdy said. “I’m not thinking about it as I’m dropping back or throwing or anything like that.”
49ers’ Jauan Jennings responds to accusations from Browns players
“I mean, he said some things, so why ain’t he saying what he said?” Jennings replied. “I don’t know, bro. I do know it ain’t that bad. That’s what I do know. I’m gonna just keep it to myself, what I said, but I know it wasn’t that bad, and he knows that. It’s funny. If he sees me to smack me, maybe y’all find out that day.”
