Heading into the 2024 edition of the NFL draft, it felt likely the San Francisco 49ers would quickly address the offensive line position. On a roster that is built for another Super Bowl run and stacked with stars, the offensive line looked like one of the few positions of need for the 49ers.
But, through two rounds, the 49ers added a pass catcher and defensive back. However, with a trade to move up in the third round, the 49ers finally added a player on the offensive line. With the No. 86 overall selection, the 49ers drafted Kansas Jayhawks offensive lineman Dominick Puni.
Over his collegiate career, Puni played multiple positions. While earning First-team All-Big 12 honors, Puni did not surrender a sack during the entire season, according to Pro Football Focus.
