Defensive lineman DeForest Buckner was an iron man for the 49ers last year. PFF looks at his production, including his impressive snap count.

- San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman DeForest Buckner told the Sacramento Bee, “there were times out there last year where I was dead tired and they wouldn’t take me out. I feel like I’m hurting the team more staying out there not being able to, you know, live up to my full potential when I’m out there.”
- Buckner’s 1007 defensive snaps led all interior defenders in 2016, with only three other players topping even 900 snaps. From Week 4 on, Buckner played in at least 90 percent of the 49ers’ defensive snaps in all but one game and topped 97 percent on six different occasions.
- San Francisco’s new coaching staff appears intent on reducing Buckner’s workload in 2017. Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh called Buckner’s 2016 snap total, “criminal,” and said that ideally he’d like all of his defensive lineman, “working about 500, 600 snaps and trying to utilize everything they’ve got every snap that they’re on the football field.”
