‘Receiver’ captures Deebo Samuel and George Kittle injuries, heartbreak in 49ers’ Super Bowl loss

“No way this is happening to me right now,” Samuel said. “I come out of the [medical] tent, I get to moving around, but this s—t just hurts.”

Samuel commented on his mindset during the situation, “Whatever happens, happens. This is the last game of the year, and not too many people get this opportunity. Let’s just try to go out there and make the best out of it. Went out there and gave it everything I had.”

Later in the game, Kittle suffered a shoulder injury but remained on the field with his teammates.

“Yes, I got hurt,” Kittle shared. “I still felt like I was capable of doing my job, so I’m not going to leave the drive if I don’t have to, and I was able to stay in for the rest of it.”

Kittle eventually had to briefly exit the game at the end, leaving Charlie Woerner to fill in for the All-Pro tight end until he returned in overtime.

“It was about as painful as it could possibly get,” Kittle commented. “I was able to go get some numbing stuff for it, kind of calmed it down a little bit, allowed me to move it a little bit more.”

.....

“I’m 28 now and been playing football about 24 of these years,” Samuel said. “So as a kid, you’re just like, ‘Yo, I dreamed of playing in the Super Bowl.’ And once you get there, you like, ‘All right, I’m here.’ Then you get there again, you like, ‘All right, now, I ain’t losing twice.’ And then you lose again, you just like, ‘Bro, what the hell is it going to take for us to win one?’”

Kittle remarked, “To lose the second one, getting to that moment, not being able to get it done, just sucks. My dream is to win a Super Bowl, and I’m going to do everything I can to once again climb back up the mountain and take another shot at it.”

Rapoport: “Clock is ticking” on 49ers, Brandon Aiyuk situation

“First of all, you can’t do that,” Rapoport stated. “Second of all, it’s not happening. It sounds more likely here, FaceTime with Jayden Daniels, practice film came up, took a little screenshot, boom, posted it, and there’s your storyline.”

CMC’s old coach lists seven traits that make 49ers star NFL’s best RB

“He does everything exceptionally,” he told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. “Explosiveness, vision, technique, versatility, great teammate, hardest worker, dedicated in the offseason.

“The only thing holding him back was when he was hurt. But he’s exactly how you would draw up a football player.”

49ers’ Brock Purdy had hilarious reaction to dominant Deebo Samuel play in Netlfix’s ‘Receiver’

Said Purdy on the sideline: “Seriously though, what goes through your mind? How’d you do that?

“Like this isn’t even high school. These are grown men. Makes no sense.”

“I don’t like to get tackled” was Samuel’s succinct response.

Rich Eisen Show: Kittle discusses how Purdy was welcomed into the 49ers’ locker room

“Kittle said, “Compare Purdy to Christian McCaffrey to Nick Bosa. It’s a Pokémon evolution.”

He continued, “Purdy has huge thighs, Christian McCaffrey has huge thighs, and Bosa has Bosa thighs. Eventually, Purdy will turn into Bosa.”

Kittle says the media sees the baby-faced Purdy and speaks about him “like he’s a little kid wearing a J.C. Penney’s backpack. He’s not.”...“There’s zero hazing but I do like to see how they react,” Kittle said.

“I like to banter with them to see if they will talk back to me or will they act shy like he’s George Kittle and he’s been in the league for eight years.”

Kittle attended Iowa, and Purdy attended their in-state rival, Iowa State. Three years ago, the then-rookie Purdy was assigned a locker two down from Kittle’s.

On the first day of full practice, in jest, Kittle put an Iowa Hawkeye shirt in Purdy’s locker to test the rookie’s mettle. Purdy opened his locker, saw the jersey, and said, “Did you put this f**ker in here? Get this sh*t out of here.” Then, he instantly took it out and threw the shirt on the floor.

Kittle laughed and said to himself, “I’m going to like you. Respect. I love that.”

49ers’ George Kittle Would Accept 18-Game NFL Schedule with 2nd Bye, Limited OTAs

“Kittle said it seems “inevitable” that the league is going to 18 games, but he’s said he’s “fine with that” with the caveat of having two byes.

As far as his offseason ideas go, he’s in favor of eliminating OTA’s altogether or just limiting them to the month of May, with perhaps an exception occurring for new players, who could show up for a smaller period of time to aid their transition to the squad.”

49ers’ George Kittle sends clear message about Brandon Aiyuk contract stalemate

“I think, if you look at my career, being a Forty-Niner, and the way most of the contracts have gone, I didn’t get signed until the second week of training camp, [WR] Deebo [Samuel] was pretty late [in 2022],” Kittle told Eisen. “[DE Nick] Bosa was [right before] the first week of [last] season. That’s just how business is done out there.

“I’m not in the meetings. I have no idea [how negotiations are progressing]. I actually go out of my way to not talk to anybody going through contract negotiations, so when people ask me questions, I have absolutely no idea. But, I’m not concerned about it.

“Aiyuk’s a phenomenal football player who’s a big part of our offense, and he’s one of the most complete receivers that I’ve ever played with. So I’m gonna assume that Aiyuk’s gonna be on our team by the time the season starts.”
