Kaepernick’s first work of the preseason came in Friday’s Week-3 game. Even though Gabbert has been underwhelming this preseason, Kaepernick needed a strong performance to make a play for the starting role. Kaepernick played the entire second quarter with the first team, and ended with a stat line of 2 of 6 for 14 yards through the air, and 4 for 18 yards on the ground.<\/p>\n

1-10 @ SF 17 (14:52) Shotgun formation. Kaepernick does a good job of avoiding initial pressure due to a poor Davis block, works the pocket, and finds McDonald for a 2 yard gain.<\/p>\n
