Mike McGlinchey was drafted by the San Franscisco 49ers in the 1st round of the NFL’s 2018 Draft. He was the 9th overall selection. My first time seeing McGlinchey was at the 49ers State of the Franchise in San Jose, California. The State of the union the 49ers hold for the 49ers faithful/empire/season ticket holders to discuss the upcoming season and improvements at Levis Stadium, not to mention get to see some of the players. That’s when the 49ers also unveiled their throwback jerseys.
The moment McGlinchey arrived in Santa Clara, you could feel—and see—the eagerness to be the best in NFL. Fortunately for McGlinchey, he didn’t need to go very far to learn. Joe Staley—the 49ers 12th year veteran left tackle—took him under his wing. They were inseparable throughout camp and preseason. Joe Staley often joked around saying he was his step brother. You could only imagine how beneficial that was for McGlinchey and his development. McGlinchey played all 16 games at right tackle for the San Francisco 49ers. He played against some of the best Defensive players in the league. We shall see what next season brings.
As we’re approaching the 2019 NFL Draft I wanted to do a photo gallery of the 49ers 2018 NFL Draft picks. Pictures I took for Niners Nation at Levis Stadium throughout the year.
So we wanted to start off with the first round pick of 2018.
We here at Niners Nation hope you enjoy the photos and the journey.
