In this week’s FanPulse, we polled San Francisco 49ers fans to see what is the team’s biggest need in the upcoming NFL Draft. The results weren’t particularly close.
By percentage, defensive back received an overwhelming 71% of the votes. Offensive line was just over 20%, while wide receiver came in at 9%.
The 49ers could have a need at free safety if Jimmie Ward walks in free agency, but Ward co-signed for Tarvarius Moore as a starter. Jaquiski Tartt is entering the last year of his deal as well. Cornerback is likely the reason the majority voted for a defensive back. Emmanuel Moseley and Ahkello Witherspoon will battle to start are the season started today. Both had good and bad moments in 2019. Unfortunately, the bad came at the worst possible time for both players. Richard Sherman had a great season, but father time remains undefeated, and Sherman is entering the last year of his contract, as is K’Waun Williams. The position could look a lot different two years from now—which is why 71% of the vote went to defensive back.
