We’ll get an extended look at Talanoa Hufanga Sunday

The 49ers made a few roster moves ahead of Sunday’s game against the Bears. The team ruled out LB Azeez Al-Shaair and edge rusher Dee Ford. Both players are suffering from concussions.

Edge rusher Jordan Willis had his roster exemption lifted and is now on the active roster. Defensive tackle Kevin Givens was activated from the injured reserve list. Willis should take Ford’s snaps, while Givens will play a major role with Javon Kinlaw and Maurice Hurst out.

Speaking of Kinlaw, he was placed on the injured reserve along with safety Jaquiski Tartt. TE Jordan Matthews and S Kai Nacua were activated from the team’s practice squad.

I’m excited to see what Talanoa Hufanga looks like in extended action. Holding up against the run will be challenging without Kinlaw. Givens is a bull in a china shop, though. If he stays healthy, in the grand scheme of things, losing Kinlaw isn’t that bad this season. More than anything, the Niners could use Givens’s interior pressure.
