Plenty of turkey legs to go around for the 49ers offense
While families across America bonded over food and desserts, 49ers fans got an extra special present on Thanksgiving. An absolute thrashing of the Seattle Seahawks in Seattle led to the team enjoying turkey on the field post-game. It was a true full-circle moment for 49ers fans who suffered through the Thanksgiving defeat at Levi’s Stadium several years ago.
Let’s look at the snap counts and grades from Thursday’s victory, according to Pro Football Focus.
Offense
Quarterback – Brock Purdy 66 (75.8)
Purdy finished Thanksgiving with 209 passing yards, a passing touchdown, and an interception. Purdy’s only TWP (turnover-worthy play) was his interception that turned into a pick-six. Purdy also had a BTT (big-time throw) percentage of 3.3 percent.
Overall, it was another fine game for the second-year starter, who continues to act unfazed by big moments as the 49ers quarterback.
Running Back – Christian McCaffrey 51 (83.6), Kyle Juszczyk 28 (49.5), Elijah Mitchell 17 (68.9)
McCaffrey continues to dazzle, putting up another 100-yard rushing effort with 114 on 19 attempts (6.0 YPA). Three ten-plus yard runs, four MTF (missed tackles forced after a rush), and 69 yards after contact per attempt for McCaffrey, who needed to get his helmet adjusted after dealing out punishment with his runs.
Elijah Mitchell continues to ramp up and look better each week. It’s a very welcomed sight with the stretch run and cold weather games upcoming. Thirty-nine yards on seven attempts (5.6 YPA), 25 yards after contact per attempt, and a ten-yard run scream: Mitchell is rounding into his rookie year form.
Wide Receivers – Brandon Aiyuk 59 (67.3), Deebo Samuel 50 (78.3), Jauan Jennings 24 (62.5), Ray-Ray McCloud III 8 (78.7), Ronnie Bell 6 (57.8)
Deebo Samuel led the team in targets (9) and receptions (7) for 11.3 per reception and 79 yards. That receiving yard total consists of 43 yards after the catch. Samuel also added a rushing touchdown. Samuel also finished with 2.93 Y/RR (yards per route run).
Brandon Aiyuk finished with two receptions for 50 yards with one touchdown reception on Thursday. Aiyuk’s average depth of target was at 18.3 on three targets. Jauan Jennings finished with one catch for seven yards, but it was an impressive one-catch as he wouldn’t be denied the first down.
Tight Ends – George Kittle 66 (59.3), Charlie Woerner 18 (88.1), Ross Dwelley 3 (59.0)
Charlie Woerner finished the game with the highest offensive grade on 18 total snaps. Woerner’s pass-blocking grade was in the eighties (80.9), and he even tossed in a reception for good measure.
George Kittle, surprisingly, finished with only 19 receiving yards in a prime time game and ended his streak of four straight games with over 70 receiving yards.
Offensive Line – Jake Brendel 66 (64.7), Aaron Banks 66 (52.7), Colton McKivitz 66 (61.5), Jon Feliciano 66 (44.4), Trent Williams 63 (79.0), Jaylon Moore 3 (60.0)
Aaron Banks returned to the lineup and played every snap, finishing with an overall grade of 52.7. Banks allowed two pressures and two hurries, but his return is a welcome sight for the offensive line. Jon Feliciano filled in for Spencer Burford but allowed four pressures and four hurries in 34 pass-blocking snaps.
Colton McKivitz finished with three hurries and three pressures allowed. Jake Brendel allowed one pressure, and a QB hit, while Trent Williams allowed one pressure, and one hurry, finishing with an 86.4 pass-blocking grade.
