As you watched the San Francisco 49ers stumble to a 30-9 loss Saturday against the Denver Broncos, you may have been dissatisfied with the offensive line. Missed blocks were numerous.

There were also several missing starters. Trent Williams, for instance, didn’t suit up at all.

That didn’t stop fans from being annoyed. During the game, a fan posted on former 49ers and retired NFL offensive lineman Jon Feliciano’s X page asking him to come back and help the team. And Feliciano responded;

Obviously, the “John” in Feliciano’s reply refers to 49ers general manager John Lynch.

So was this a slight at the team, or Feliciano saying he’d be open to returning should the 49ers get on the phone? Or is it both? Or neither? This isn’t the first time we’ve seen cryptic responses for 49ers players lobbying to return to the team.

Feliciano announced his retirement back in February. In his announcement on social media, he said: “After months of weighing my options, I realized I had to leave the game. The fire is still there, but I know I can’t last a full season and can’t bring myself to let people down. Being on a team and unable to help out your boys is rough. That being said, Buffalo or SF, I’ll be ready for a playoff run in December if you need me.”

So while he said he’d be down to return in December, maybe the 49ers can get him to come to the team a bit earlier if the offensive line issues are that concerning. Like we said: there were a lot of faces you didn’t see in Saturday’s loss, but if the 49ers want to plug Feliciano in, they need John to call.
