The San Francisco 49ers suffered a scare in the first half of their preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Dominick Puni was ruled out immediately after he appeared to have been rolled up on by his teammates on an extra point attempt. Running backs Patrick Taylor Jr. (shoulder) and Corey Kiner (ankle) were also ruled out.
Those injuries overshadowed what was an impressive first drive by Brock Purdy and Ricky Pearsall. There were some splash plays on defense, but some key players also made some mistakes. All in all, it was a preseason game. Backups made plays, but also mistakes.
The second half might not be easy for the 49ers to navigate with the plethora of injuries mounting on both sides of the ball at critical positions. As the second half is underway, would you believe Raheem Mostert was in? I wouldn’t have.
We’ll see if the defense holds up better this half than they did last week.
