The only question heading into Week 2 was whether the San Francisco 49ers would have the services of Trent Williams and Jauan Jennings.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported early Sunday morning that Brock Purdy is expected to miss at least another week after today’s game against the New Orleans Saints. So it’ll be Mac Jones in Week 2 and Week 3 for the home opener against the Arizona Cardinals.

Williams was out on the field pre-game, testing his knee after not practicing all week:

Despite not practicing, Williams felt good enough to play. Both he and Jauan Jennings are active. However, the same trio of rookies who did not suit up last week are inactive once again. Here’s who won’t be playing today:

QB Brock Purdy
RB Jordan James
WR Jordan Watkins
OL Drew Moss
OL Austin Pleasants
DL Jordan Jefferson
LB Nick Martin

James and Watkins practiced all week. Watkins not playing despite the 49ers being thin at wide receiver might be a sign that he’s not as far along as his splash play in the preseason would indicate. Ricky Pearsall, Jennings, Kendrick Bourne, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Skyy Moore are Mac Jones’ targets today. Moore is the punt returner, but Watkins served in that role too in August.
