The San Francisco 49ers won’t have Brock Purdy and Ricky Pearsall. We knew that was the case. However, the team will also be without rookies Jordan Watkins and Upton Stout.
Watkins was off the injury report, but the team is opting to prioritize special teams on Sunday Night Football with Malik Turner. Mac Jones will throw to Jauan Jennings, Kendrick Bourne, Skyy Moore, and Turner.
As for Stout, it could mean we see either Chase Lucas in the slot, perhaps Deommodore Lenoir, with Darrell Luter playing out wide. Robert Saleh could also elect to live in “big nickel” with either Ji’Ayir Brown or Jason Pinnock playing in the slot.
Whoever plays nickel will have their hands full with Drake London and tackling Bijan Robinson in the open field. Atlanta is a run-heavy team, meaning bigger personnel could be in the cards for the Niners’ defense.
Jordan James, Drew Moss, and Yetur Gross-Matos are all inactive as well.
