Tensions are always high during NFL games. Whenever the San Francisco 49ers get into a skirmish, Jauan Jennings is usually in the center. After former Niner Maliek Collins went down with an injury, there were reportedly words exchanged between Jennings and Cleveland’s defenders. One player, defensive tackle Shelby Harris, took whatever Jennings said personally:
He’s a hoe, and I want that known. I see why he got punched in the nuts. He says some things that you should not say to another man. Ever. But I don’t respect that because you say that then run behind your O-line. That’s some real soft sh*t, and I want that known. I see exactly why they punched you in the nuts. I’m surprised nobody has punched you in the jaw yet.
Here is the video, so you can hear Harris’s emotion:
We’ll never know what was said. There’s no doubt players cross the line weekly. Jennings, especially, has not been shy about antagonizing players. It’s benefited the 49ers plenty of times. But celebrating that behavior doesn’t sit right with me. Disrespect should never be tolerated.
It may seem cool because Jennings is on the 49ers. It’s almost similar to Draymond Green in the NBA, where you love him if he’s on your team and hate him if he’s not. But having an idea of who Harris is as a person, Jennings likely said something incredibly foul for him to react that way.
There’s a difference between trash-talking and taking it to a level you never would outside of the stadium. It sounds like Jennings crossed the line today.
