We hand out four game balls to the San Francisco 49ers from the final game of the 2017 season, a 34-13 victory over the Los Angeles Rams.

 

On Monday’s Locked On 49ers Podcast, host Brian Peacock handed out four “Jimmy Garoppolo Game Ball Awards” to the San Francisco 49ers after their fifth straight victory to end the season — a 34-13 win over the Los Angeles Rams.

DC Robert Saleh

Saleh’s defense held the Rams to just 13 total points — and 251 total yards — on the day. The 49ers forced two turnovers, and stopped the Rams on 10 of 15 third-down attempts. Los Angeles running backs were held to just 74 yards on 20 carries, and quarterback Sean Mannion threw for just 169 yards, in an impressive ending to the defensive coordinator’s rookie season:

S Eric Reid

Reid played one of his best games of the season, flying around the field making plays and administering big hits. The 2018 free agent ended the day with six tackles. With two injured safeties returning next season, and the emergence of rookie safety Adrian Colbert, it will be interesting to see if San Francisco offers Reid a long-term contract:

TE George Kittle

Kittle ran with purpose after the catch, breaking tackles, and outrunning defenders. The rookie tight end finished the day with a team-leading 100 yards on four catches. It was a successful season for the 2017 fifth-round draft pick, who is well on his way to becoming the 49ers’ tight end of the future:

49ers’ Offensive Line

San Francisco’s offensive line kept Jimmy Garoppolo upright, allowing the quarterback to carve up the Los Angeles defense. In addition to not giving up a sack, the Niners’ line helped running Carlos Hyde score twice on the ground, and the 49ers ended the game with an average of over six yards-per-rush:
