Welcome to Niner Noise’s live game thread for the 49ers’ Week 1 matchup against the Lions. Discuss the game with writers and fans in the comments section!

The San Francisco 49ers kick off the 2021 NFL regular season with a trip to the Eastern Time Zone  to take on the Detroit Lions at Ford Field in Detroit, MI. The game will begin at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, September 12, 2021.

49ers backup quarterback and No. 3 overall draft pick Trey Lance is expected to see his first regular season NFL action in the game. He will not be joined by second-rounder and offensive lineman Aaron Banks or third-round running back Trey Sermon, both of whom are healthy scratches for the game.

Probably a bit of a surprise there, but head coach Kyle Shanahan regularly goes with whoever he thinks will play best regardless of draft status.

Fifth-round corner Deommodore Lenoir is expected to start the game in place of CB Emmanuel Moseley, who is out with a knee injury. Interior defensive lineman Javon Kinlaw will likely have to wait until Week 2 before he plays his first game in 2021.

49ers vs. Lions: How to watch

Today’s showdown between the Niners and Lions will be broadcast on FOX Sports. Broadcast coverage will feature play-by-play and color commentator Mark Sanchez — and with Laura Okmin on the sideline. The game will be shown on channel 711 on DIRECTV’s NFL Sunday ticket.

49ers fans in local markets can stream the game on 49ers.com or via the 49ers.com app. An additional streaming option is fuboTV, which includes a free seven-day trial for first-time users.
