The 2-1 San Francisco 49ers remain at home for a must-win showdown with their rivals, the 1-2 Seattle Seahawks. The Niners’ Week 4 matchup of the 2021 NFL regular season kicks off at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA.
The Seahawks appear very vulnerable for the first time in years after dropping two of their first three games. However, the 49ers demonstrated their defense is incapable of depending the passing game — and particularly spread formations — without a dominant pass rush, after first-year defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans crumbled under pressure during last week’s loss to the Green Bay Packers.
San Francisco’s injuries continue to with up, as both starting cornerbacks Josh Norman and K’Waun Williams will miss the game due to injury. It will be a long day for the 49ers’ secondary, particularly against spread formations, which Ryans’ defense was incapable of defending in Week 3.
Running backs Elijah Mitchell and JaMycal Hasty will also miss today’s contest against Seattle, but tight end George Kittle has been cleared to play.
The 49ers are currently favored over the Seahawks by 2.5 points.
