The 49ers jumped into the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 draft thanks to a few favorable outcomes in Week 11. Having that spot would afford them the much-needed opportunity to get the most elite playmakers at positions of need. They did just that in the latest two-round mock draft from our friends at Draft Wire.

Here’s a look at who they selected:

Round 1 (Pick 1) – Nick Bosa | EDGE | Ohio State

It’s still very early in the draft process, but Bosa seems to be the consensus No. 1 overall pick. Surgery on an abdominal injury kept him out for all but three games this season. Bosa still managed to rack up 6.0 tackles-for-loss and 4.0 sacks in those three contests.

He is a game wrecker. That’s exactly what the 49ers need off the edge, and players with Bosa’s combination of size, strength, speed and motor don’t come around often. San Francisco has a chance to get a great one if they can land the top pick.

Round 2 (Pick 33) – Anthony Johnson | WR | Buffalo

It’s not unlikely the 49ers use one of their prime draft picks to snag a No. 1 wide receiver. The way the board shakes out will have some bearing on what position they go with in the second round, but a receiver like Johnson is the kind of player they’d target at receiver.

Johnson is a 6-2, 210-pound junior college transfer who’s put up monster numbers in two seasons for the Bulls. His first year there he caught 76 balls for 1.356 yards and 14 touchdowns in 12 games. He’s backed it up with a stellar first half of his senior season, racking up 41 catches for 794 yards and nine touchdowns in nine games. Those are the numbers of a game-changing receiver, and finding one of those early in the second round would be ideal for the 49ers.
