A dream scenario played out for the 49ers in the latest Draft Wire four-round mock draft. Alabama’s Quinnen Williams goes No. 1 overall to the Arizona Cardinals, leaving the entire edge class available for the 49ers at the No. 2 pick.

Williams going No. 1 opens a ton of doors for the 49ers from a pick and trade standpoint. No trades were executed in this mock, but it’s hard to imagine the 49ers trading out of the No. 2 pick when they have the entire edge class available to them.

Here’s how their draft went down in the Draft Wire mock:

It’s hard to believe the 49ers would go anywhere else with this pick if Bosa falls out of the No. 1 spot. Doing anything else would probably be overthinking it. He’s been the consensus top pick for effectively the entire college football season. Bosa had 29 tackles for loss and 17.5 sacks in 29 games for the Buckeyes. He cut his junior season short after an abdominal injury knocked him out for three games, and then he opted to not return so he could prepare for the draft. A player only playing three games of a third college season would typically be a cause for concern, but Bosa was so productive in his first two seasons that it won’t be a hangup for the 49ers.
