We won’t be able to calculate tie breakers in the 2019 NFL draft order until the season concludes. However, based on Sunday’s early results, the 49ers would hold the top overall pick based on the strength-of-schedule tiebreaker according to Over the Cap.

The Raiders topped the Cardinals and the Giants beat the Buccaneers, which was an ideal outcome for the 49ers.

This put the Raiders at two wins, kept the Cardinals at two wins, and moved the Giants to three wins. With the 49ers, Raiders and Cardinals all knotted at a pair of wins, San Francisco is in front of the pack thanks to strength of schedule.

Strength of schedule is the first tiebreaker in the draft order. That means the 49ers’ two losses to the Cardinals and their win over the Raiders won’t come into play at all.

The best thing San Francisco can hope for, assuming all three teams finish with two wins, is that the teams on their schedule lose as much as possible to drop their strength of schedule. The lower schedule strength earns the earlier pick.

San Francisco’s next game is next Sunday in Tampa Bay against the three-win Buccaneers.
