The San Francisco 49ers are signing William Bradley-King to the practice squad. The 2021 seventh-round pick of the Washington Commanders was with the Niners during the preseason. Bradley-King played 41 defensive snaps during the preseason and nine special teams snaps. The 6’4″, 254-pounder recorded two pressures, including a quarterback hit in those snaps.

The last time Bradley-King stepped onto the field during the regular season was in 2022 in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles for the Commanders. That was the only game he appeared in that season. Bradley-King played in three games, totaling 59 snaps, as a rookie.

The 49ers will assuredly attempt to find more pass rush bodies after the loss of Nick Bosa to an ACL injury. They’ll also rely on some of the players on the roster, like Yetur Gross-Matos, to take on bigger roles. Here’s Kyle Shanahan on Gross-Matos on Monday:

“Yetur has been out there the last three weeks, so hopefully as he keeps going and doesn’t have any setbacks, hopefully he can continue to progress with that and handle more reps. But, we’ve got to see how that goes.”

Shanahan also believes the Niners will win by committee:

“Nothing in particular. You don’t just replace a guy like Nick. It just puts, you know, everyone’s got to continue to get better at everything. It’s the same thing I’d be preaching if we did have Nick, too. When you lose your better players, it gets harder, but I also expect throughout this year all of our players to get better as it goes. That’s stressed even that much more when you lose a great one like Nick. Lots of guys obviously will have to step it up as it goes, but I believe that’ll be more by committee than any individual.”

Per the transaction wire, the Niners also had tryouts with edge rushers Titus Leo and Isaiah Thomas. Additionally, the team worked out safety Jaylen Mahoney, who has spent plenty of time on the roster, as well as safety Brandon Joseph, who played 182 snaps last season for the Detroit Lions during the regular season.

Oh, and Deion Sanders’ song Shilo Sanders also had a tryout. He was released in the preseason by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
