The 49ers continued tinkering with their 90-man roster Thursday by announcing a pair of moves. They added some depth to their group of cornerbacks by adding undrafted rookie Alex Brown, and waived defensive lineman Damontre Moore in a corresponding move.

Brown spent five years at South Carolina State, and started 25 of the 31 games he played. The 5-11, 170-pound corner broke up 26 passes with seven interceptions. He joins a crowded cornerbacks room, but he does have the advantage of competing for a wide open back end of the 53-man roster. He still has a steep hill to climb, and he’ll need a very productive training camp and preseason to land a spot with the team.

Moore was released to keep the 49ers’ roster at 90 players. He signed with the club following the shutdown of the Alliance of American Football, where he played with the San Diego Fleet. Moore entered the league with the New York Giants in 2013, and spent time with the Dolphins, Seahawks, Cowboys and Raiders before joining the AAF.
