With college football rolling into Week 6, the NFL draft world is already buzzing. Although the San Francisco 49ers haven’t dropped a game four weeks into the new NFL campaign, it’s never too early to peak into mock drafts as the college football season heats up and different prospects begin to stand out.
In the latest mock draft from Luke Easterling of Sports Illustrated, the 49ers added some help alongside Nick Bosa on the edge. Coming from Bosa’s alma mater, the 49ers selected Edge rusher JT Tuimoloau with the No. 30 overall selection in the 2024 NFL draft.
According to Easterling, the addition of Tuimoloau could boost one of the league’s top defenses.
Even with Nick Bosa re-signing, the 49ers could still add another edge rusher if the board falls the right way. Even with other needs (offensive line, defensive back), passing up a talent and fit like Tuimoloau would be hard to do, and adding him would make one of the league’s best defenses that much scarier.

In three seasons with the Buckeyes, Tuimoloau has racked up seven sacks and 16 tackles for loss. Tuimoloau has also tacked on a touchdown on a turnover in his career. Through four games this season, Tuimoloau has 13 total tackles for the No. 4 ranked Buckeyes.
Fast forward to the second round of Easterling’s mock, the 49ers added some offensive line depth from the Pac 12. With the No. 62 overall pick in Sports Illustrated’s mock, the 49ers selected Arizona offensive lineman Jordan Morgan. The Wildcat offensive lineman is coming off an AP First Team All-Pac 12 season.
