It’s a busy day of internal transactions.

The San Francisco 49ers announced several roster moves they had to make between now and the start of the 2019 NFL league year on Wednesday, March 13th. The team tendered one-year contracts to restricted free agent RB Raheem Mostert and exclusive rights free agents LB Elijah Lee and DB Greg Mabin. They also exercised 2019 contract options for FB Kyle Juszczyk, DL Cassius Marsh, LB Dekoda Watson, and CB K’Waun Williams.

The 49ers announced they have declined the contract option for WR Pierre Garçon. Nose tackle Earl Mitchell has an option they can pick up or decline, but Mike Garafolo is reporting they are trying to find a trading partner for Mitchell. Garafolo also reported the team is figuring out what to do with Malcolm Smith.

The Garçon news is not surprising. Marsh is not surprising, but it is worth noting he is getting a decent pay raise. He signed a two-year deal last year that paid him $1.1 million last season, along with a $2 million roster bonus and $400,000 in per-game roster and an offseason workout bonus. This year, he is due $3.8 million in base salary, $400,000 in per-game roster and an offseason workout bonus, and an additional $900,000 in bonus money. He might lose his job to a Nick Bosa or Josh Allen and/or a veteran pass rusher, but the team would seem to think he can compete for a fairly significant rotational role at least.

Here’s the 49ers press release information regarding the players involved in moves.

Mostert (5-10, 197) appeared in each of the team’s first nine games of the 2018 season and registered 34 carries for 261 yards and one touchdown while adding six receptions for 25 yards. Mostert also tied for the team lead with seven tackles on special teams. He was placed on the Injured Reserve List on November 2, 2018. Lee (6-2, 229) appeared in all 16 games (five starts) and recorded 62 tackles, two passes defensed, 1.0 sack and one forced fumble. Mabin (6-2, 200) appeared in 13 games (one start) last season and finished with 11 tackles, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

In 2018, Juszczyk (6-1, 240) appeared in all 16 games (14 starts) and finished with 30 receptions for 324 yards and one touchdown along with eight rushes for 30 yards on the ground to earn his third consecutive Pro Bowl appearance. Marsh (6-4, 245) appeared in all 16 games (three starts) and registered 37 tackles, 5.5 sacks and one fumble recovery.Watson (6-2, 245) appeared in four games and registered six tackles, 2.0 sacks and one forced fumble. Williams (5-9, 185) appeared in 14 games (11 starts) and finished with 45 tackles and two passes defensed.

Garçon (6-0, 211) originally signed with San Francisco as a free agent on March 10, 2017. He started in each of his 16 games played over the past two seasons and registered 64 receptions for 786 yards (12.3 average) and one touchdown.
