The 49ers handled their business in Week 14 to try and clinch a playoff spot. They needed a win and then a loss from either the Vikings or Packers. Minnesota’s win over the Raiders leaves a Green Bay loss as their only chance to wrap up a playoff spot with four games to go.

The Vikings just snuck past the Raiders in a snoozefest in Las Vegas. A field goal from Vikings K Greg Joseph with two minutes left in the fourth quarter gave Minnesota a 3-0 lead. That was the final score from Allegiant Stadium. Nevertheless, the Vikings’ win kept the 49ers from clinching.

Now it’s up to the New York Giants. They host the Green Bay Packers at MetLife Stadium on Monday Night Football. It would be a pretty significant upset with the Packers rolling at the Giants just looking to play out the string.

Weirder things have happened though! So the 49ers will need to root for the Giants on Monday night.

The good news is if it doesn’t happen Monday, the 49ers will have another chance in Week 15 – the same week they clinched last year. And this time they won’t need as much help.
