The San Francisco 49ers had a few changes on their injury report from Wednesday.
Linebacker Luke Gifford went from being limited to not practicing with a hamstring injury. Gifford has been a staple on special teams this season. He leads the team with 144 snaps on special teams and nine tackles. Missing Gifford would be a brutal blow for a 49ers special teams unit that ranks 29th in schedule-adjusted efficiency.
Renardo Green was a full participant. He was listed as limited on Wednesday. Kyle Shanahan said Green cleared turf toe earlier in the week. Green is tenth in the NFL in completion percentage allowed. It also means Darrell Luter can play on every special teams unit.
Christian McCaffrey and Trent Williams returned from their usual days off. Upton Stout is off the injury report with an ankle injury. Will Robert Saleh go back to Stout or keep rolling with Chase Lucas?
As for the Houston Texans, Nico Collins still hasn’t cleared the concussion protocol. Christian Kirk also missed another day with a hamstring injury. According to Texans’ beat writer Aaron Wilson, both players are expected to miss Sunday’s game.
Tight end Dalton Schultz was limited for the second day in a row with a back/shoulder injury. That is 55 percent of Houston’s receiving yards on the season that could potentially be missed in Week 8.
