When it rains, it pours. The San Francisco 49ers haven’t been on the right side of any injury luck under Kyle Shanahan.
Ricky Pearsall, Christian Kirk, and De’Zhaun Stribling were arguably going to be three of the top four receivers heading into the regular season. Pearsall is out for the year. Kirk is on injured reserve, and Stribling just joined him.
Unfortuantely, the 49ers lost another receiver on Sunday, as Demarcus Robinson was carted to the locker room during the second quarter with an ankle injury. It came on a play where Robinson was wide open and should have walked into the end zone. But the throw was behind him, and it looked like Robinson’s ankle kind of got stuck in the field.
Robinson is officially questionable to return, but whenever there’s a cart, it’s unlikely that we’ll see Robinson for the remainder of the game. Perhaps it’s a good sign that the team didn’t rule Robinson out immediately.
