In perhaps the least surprising move of draft season, the 49ers met with Ohio State edge rusher Nick Bosa on Thursday according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

San Francisco likely didn’t need a ton of time with the former Buckeye. He’s considered by most to be the top player in the draft, and the consensus top edge rushing prospect. Bosa was at the Raiders’ facility Thursday afternoon according to NBC Sports California’s Scott Bair.

Bosa was the odds-on favorite to be the No. 1 overall until the combine when rumors that the Cardinals would take quarterback Kyler Murray grew legs and took off. It was once a long shot that San Francisco would even have a chance at Bosa – now it looks like he’ll drop into their lap.

Thursday’s meeting was very likely a formality. If the 49ers want Bosa, it’s unlikely they’re going to learn anything in one meeting that’s going to change that. Alabama’s Quinnen Williams might get some consideration at No. 2 from the 49ers. A trade back might be explored as well. If Bosa falls though, it’s difficult to imagine San Francisco skips the opportunity to scoop him up.
