The team looking to add depth at LB later in the draft

According to Adam Schefter, Kentucky’s Josh Allen has been in San Francisco for the last two days. He’s wrapping up his visit today. That’s not the only news. The 49ers are also hosting a linebacker and two special team players.

The San Francisco 49ers are looking for depth behind Fred Warner and Kwon Alexander at the linebacker position. According to Aaron Wilson, the team is hosting Dre Greenlaw out of Arkansas. The 5-11, 237-pounder ran the 40-yard dash in 4.65 seconds and had a 33.5 inch vertical leap. The senior finished with 80 tackles, 6 1/ for losses, two sacks and two interceptions as a senior.

According to Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports, the Niners will also be meeting with long snapper Chris Wilkerson and punter Jack Fox on April 5, at a facility in Houston. Fox was a four-year starter at Rice, where he handled kickoffs and punts. Fox averaged 43.4 yards per attempt. Last year Bradley Pinion averaged 43.7 yards.

If anything, these visits tell us where the team believes they need competition, or to build depth at. Bringing in Allen tells us pass-rusher is an obvious need and that’s an area the team wants to address immediately in the draft. Seeing names like Greenlaw tell us the 49ers are fine with their current starters.
