One analyst compares him to a young Anquan Boldin.

The San Francisco 49ers are allowed to meet with up to 60 prospects for 15-minute meetings at the NFL Combine, and a notable wide receiver is on the docket for Friday evening. Ole Miss wide receiver A.J. Brown told 49ers media that he is meeting with the 49ers later today.

Brown fits what the 49ers might be looking for to replace Pierre Garçon at the Z receiver (or flanker) position. Brown measured in at 6’0 and 12 inches and weighed in at 226 pounds. By comparison, Garçon is listed at 6’0, 211 pounds and Kendrick Bourne (Garçon’s replacement in the back half of this season) is listed at 6’1, 203 pounds.

Brown is not a candidate for the No. 2 overall pick, but he might not slip far enough for the 49ers to land him with the No. 36 pick. If he has a solid workout this weekend, it could cement him as a first round pick. The meeting and potentially a visit later this offseason might convince the 49ers he’s worth a move into the back of the first round, but they could just hope he slips and have a backup plan in mind.

Former NFL lineman Stephen White broke down Brown’s game for SB Nation, and he loves Brown’s all-around game. He thinks Brown’s game resembles a younger Anquan Boldin and has a high ceiling. He likes his route-running, although he does think it can improve. But he likes the kind of athleticism he brings with his size, and thinks he can do a little bit of everything.
