49ers lineman has unique franchise milestone in his sight
“Players who spend at least 10 seasons with the organization earn a place on a plaque displayed inside the 49ers’ headquarters.”

Hutchinson: Summer of Football: That was … easy
“Anyway, Marques Sigle. This is a pure summer thought, but I really do believe he might be the key to the 49ers’ defense.

In all likelihood, it’s Malik Mustapha and Ji’Ayir Brown leading the group again. Maybe Sigle doesn’t play all that often. But he has rare free safety upside that I would love to see tapped into.

I don’t know whether he’ll actually become a decent player, but the qualities are there. I earnestly believe he has the upside to transform the defense.”

Who will be the 49ers top free agents in 2027?
“It’s a crucial year for Ji’Ayir Brown, who has disappointed with inconsistencies over his three-year career in San Francisco. He’s now in a contract year and is currently poised to start once again at safety for the 49ers.

The 49ers haven’t looked to invest much money at the safety position under Shanahan, so they may look elsewhere in 2027. But Brown has the opportunity to earn a solid second contract with a quality year in 2026.”
