For 49ers, Rams’ Myles Garrett trade means more exhaustive game planning, less sleep (paywall)
“The Rams added Garrett, who signed a four-year, $160 million extension last year, about a month after making what appeared to be a curious draft move that now could help them absorb Garrett’s contract in future seasons. The Rams used their No. 13 pick on QB Ty Simpson despite having Stafford, 38, for at least one more season.

If Stafford retires after 2026, the Rams could have Simpson starting on an affordable rookie contract that would help them maintain their loaded roster. In addition, by using their first-round pick on a potential Stafford successor a year in advance, it allowed them to deal their 2027 first-rounder for Garrett instead of using the pick on a QB.”

What Rams’ reported Myles Garrett blockbuster trade means for 49ers, Super Bowl
“Garrett, 30, is in his prime. He is coming off an NFL-record 23-sack season and a second NFL Defensive Player of the Year award. He has 125.5 sacks in 134 career games over nine NFL seasons.

One year ago, Garrett signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension with the Browns through the 2030 season. Now, the Rams pick up the remaining portion of that deal.”

The 49ers won’t play A.J. Brown in ‘26 after the Eagles traded him out of the NFC
“The Eagles feel like a prime regression candidate this season. DeVonta Smith moves to the WR1 role. He’s as good if not better than advertised. However, rookie Makai Lemon would then need to fill either Brown or Smith’s shoes. Good luck with that. Add in an offensive line that is seemingly always banged up, with a quarterback who isn’t decisive, and it puts a lot of pressure on Vic Fangio’s defense to be flawless.”
