The NFL on Monday announced dates for teams offseason workouts. The 49ers will begin their 2019 offseason program in mid-April.

Here is what those dates look like:

First day of offseason work: April 15

OTAs: May 20-21, May 23, May 28-29, May 31, June 3-4, June 6

Mandatory minicamp: June 11-13

The offseason workouts take place in phases in accordance with the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement.

Phase 1 is solely for strength, conditioning and rehab work. This is voluntary and there won’t be any football-related workouts during this two-week program.

The next three weeks will make up Phase 2 of the offseason workouts. Teams can do individual on-field workouts and drills, but team drills cannot contain contact or offense vs. defense.

OTAs make up Phase 3 of the program. Those are 10 days of organized team activities where teams can have their offense and defense square off, but contact is still not allowed. The three-day mandatory minicamp will wrap up Phase 3.

The 49ers’ offseason workouts will kick off a slew of roster battles, but it will also be a chance for injured players Jimmy Garoppolo, Jerick McKinnon and Kwon Alexander to get back into some form of action with the team.
