Gray has been on the injured reserve all season with a sprained SC Joint
The 49ers announced a slew of roster moves on Wednesday afternoon. The team officially signed defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day. Offensive lineman Matt Pryor was also signed. Both players are on 1-year deals.
To make room on the roster, running back Jeremy McNichols was waived. Additionally, offensive lineman Sebastian Gutierrez and wide receiver Willie Snead were signed to the practice squad.
Former third round draft pick Danny Gray had his practice window opened. Gray has been on the injured reserve with a shoulder injury all season. Back in August, Kyle Shanahan said that Gray wouldn’t be ready for the beginning part of the season after breaking his collarbone. But Gray’s injury was believed to be less severe and a sprained SC joint.
Now, with two weeks to go in the regular season, the 49ers will see if Gray can add an element to the offense that they have been missing at wide receiver: Deep speed.
