The 49ers moved back to pick No. 110 to pick punter Mitch Wishnowsky from Utah.

San Francisco needed a punter at some point in the draft after Bradley Pinion left for Tampa Bay in free agency. They also needed someone to take over kickoff duties, which Wishnowsky should be able to handle.

Wishnowsky won the Ray Guy Award in 2016 as the best punter in college football. He averaged a career-best 47.7 yards-per-punt that season as a sophomore. He posted a 45.7 yard average across his three years with the Utes and was a Ray Guy Award finalist his final two years.

The Australian spent one season in junior college before moving to the Pac-12. He also posted a blazing 4.63 in the 40-yard dash at the combine.
