The 49ers are allotted 30 official visits in the weeks leading up to the NFL draft beginning on April 26. These meetings, held in the team’s facility in Santa Clara, are reserved for out-of-town prospects and are typically used to gather more information – or to give the impression that those prospects are being considered.

The 49ers drafted three players in 2017 from their list of 30 visits: linebacker Reuben Foster, cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon and tight end George Kittle.

Below is a working list of San Francisco’s official visits so far in 2018 gathered from various sources. Check back often.

James Daniels, C, Iowa

Daniels (6-3, 306) is former Hawkeye teammate of Kittle and quarterback C.J. Beathard. He’s among the top centers in the draft, but would likely compete for a spot at guard after the signing of former Giants center Weston Richburg.

Byron Pringle, WR, Kansas State

Pringle (6-1, 205) seems to have overcome a troubled past and put together two solid seasons for the Wildcats. He’s a developmental prospect, but with good speed and size, he’ll be an intriguing pick for a team willing to do their homework.

Roquan Smith, ILB, Georgia

Smith (6-1, 236) is among the top linebacker prospects in the draft and will be in play for the 49ers’ No. 9 pick. He would provide an excellent compliment to Foster and insurance should the second-year linebacker miss extended time after his second arrest.

Auden Tate, WR, Florida State

Tate (6-5, 228) is one of the tallest receivers in the NFL draft. Ten of his 40 receptions last season went for touchdowns, potentially offering Kyle Shanahan a true red zone threat his team lacks in the middle rounds.

Foye Oluokun, LB, Yale

Oluokun (6-1, 230) ran a 4.56-second 40-yard dash, had a 37-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-3 broad jump during his Pro Day, highlighting his rare athletic traits for a linebacker of his size.

Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB, Alabama

Widely considered the top defensive back in the draft class, Fitzpatrick (6-1, 201) is capable of playing multiple positions on the 49es’ defense, including safety and both cornerback positions. He’s likely to be a top 10-15 pick.

Denzel Ward, CB, Ohio State

Fitzpatrick’s versatility has boosted his stock, but Ward may be the best cover man in this year’s group of cornerbacks.  While undersized (5-10, 191) for the 49ers’ scheme, his press-man coverage skills make him a worthwhile prospect. He’ll be in play at pick No. 9, if available.

Lorenzo Carter, EDGE, Georgia

Carter (6-6, 250) was an exciting high school prospect that never developed into his high ceiling. The Georgia pass rusher totaled 62 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks last year for the Bulldogs, and is likely a second- or third-round option for the 49ers at “Sam” linebacker or “Leo” defensive end.
