The 49ers picked a second wide receiver with the No. 67 overall pick in the 2019 draft. They took Jalen Hurd from Baylor after taking South Carolina wide receiver Deebo Samuel in the second round.

Hurd is a fascinating prospect who transferred from Tennessee after three seasons there as a running back. He’s 6-5, 226 pounds and still extremely raw, but he has a ton of talent for a player who’s only spent one year as a receiver.

He did have a nice year for the Bears last season though with 69 catches for 946 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed 48 times for 209 yards and three scores.

All San Francisco has to do is find ways to get Hurd the ball. He had a successful career as a runner with 637 carries for 2,844 yards and 23 touchdowns in college. Hurd averaged 4.5 yards-per-carry.

The 49ers desperately needed playmakers on the perimeter, and Hurd projects to be one if he continues to develop as a route runner and pass catcher.
