Team adds more depth at LB

The San Francisco 49ers announced that they signed former Carolina Panthers LB David Mayo to a two-year deal. Mayo is 25-years old and spent all of his rookie years with the Panthers. In four seasons, Mayo recorded 61 tackles. He also gives the 49ers depth at inside linebacker behind starters Fred Warner and Kwon Alexander.

Mayo played 326 special teams snaps for Carolina in 2018. That’s likely where he’ll contribute for the 49ers.

The team will continue to fill out the bottom of the depth chart as free agency continues. It seems like the splash moves are over. There’s nothing wrong with that. The draft is where you want to build your team through, anyways. Hit on those players and develop them.

We’ll keep an eye out for any other free agency moves.
