The 2019 NFL draft is about a month and a half away as teams are doing their final evaluations of the upcomg class of prospects. The 49ers have several holes to fill on both sides of the ball and they’ve got their eye on defensive linemen.

Michigan’s Rashan Gary said at the school’s pro day on Friday that he has several official pre-draft visits set up, one of which will be with the 49ers.

Gary is one of the most polarizing prospects in the draft and someone who’s likely to go in the first round. Whether he should is another question.

He blew up the NFL combine with a 4.58 in the 40-yard dash at 277 pounds, showing elite athleticism for a guy his size. He also jumped 120 inches in the broad and 38 inches in the vertical.

His production is the biggest question. In the last two seasons, he had just 9.5 sacks in 25 games with 19 tackles for loss – hardly impressive numbers for a possible first-round pick.

Each team is allowed 30 official pre-draft visits, so it’s telling the 49ers will use theirs on a prospect like Gary.
