The 49ers are trying it again. This time they traded a pair of fifth-round picks to the Jets in exchange for the 129th overall pick so they could draft Louisville running back Isaac Guerendo in Round 4.
Guerendo brings a really good combination of size (6-foot, 220 pounds) and speed (4.33 40-yard dash). He runs really effectively through contact and is decisive when he finds a hole to run through.
There’s a bit of Elijah Mitchell to his game which makes it a logical choice for San Francisco given Mitchell’s success when he’s been on the field.
In six college seasons, including five with Wisconsin before transferring to Louisville. He played in 41 games but started only one and as a result his production is relatively limited. He ran it 231 times for 1,392 yards and 17 touchdowns in his college career.
