Injuries stacked up quickly for the San Francisco 49ers leading up to their Week 3 showdown with the Los Angeles Rams.
Running back Christian McCaffrey was already on IR with Achilles tendinitis, and wide receiver Deebo Samuel was ruled out for the next couple weeks with a calf strain. It looked like those would be the only major injury concerns for the week after the club’s Wednesday practice report was clean, save for Samuel’s expected non-participation.
Then Thursday came and tight end George Kittle was added to the non-participation list because of a hamstring injury. Cornerback Charvarius Ward was also add to the group of non-participants with knee and hamstring issues.
Their potential absences open an already sizable void for some reserves to fill. Luckily for the 49ers, the Rams are even more banged up entering this game. However, San Francisco will still need to see some role players step up with their injury count rising:
