Congratulations are in order for Kansas State running back Alex Barnes. Running backs, offensive linemen, and special teams players took part in the bench press on Thursday at the 2019 NFL Combine, and Barnes set the record for running backs.

Barnes had 34 reps on the bench press and that broke Jerick McKinnon’s record. The 49ers running back had 32 reps when he took part in the 2014 NFL Combine as a Georgia Southern product. Barnes finished second among running backs AND offensive linemen today.

The 49ers tweeted out some video earlier this week of McKinnon’s previous record-breaking performance. It’s really impressive.
