Defensive end Nick Bosa, the No. 2 overall pick, was issued the same uniform number his father wore with the Miami Dolphins in the 1980s.
Nick Bosa will wear No. 97, which opened over the weekend with the 49ers trade of linebacker Dekoda Watson to the Denver Broncos. Before Watson came to the team in 2017, the number had not been worn with the 49ers since Bryant Young’s retirement after the 2007 season.
