Just with the second pick.

We still have a half season of football left to play, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start looking at NFL mock drafts. After an awful loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers are looking to be picking quite early this year in the 2019 NFL Draft, and Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa could be the target.

A few weeks ago, CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso had Bosa mocked to the 49ers with the first pick. He’s back with another mock draft, and has the 49ers slipping (or elevating, depending on how you look at it) to the second pick. But they still get Bosa.

Nick Bosa, DE, Ohio State. Solomon Thomas was the first selection John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan made together in San Francisco, and he’s starting to show promising signs. That won’t stop them from taking the most polished edge-rusher in this class.

Keep in mind, this draft was done on 10/26, before the 49ers lost to the Cardinals The first pick went to none other than the Cardinals. Barring utter disaster and a 49ers winning streak, that is not happening now (the 49ers lost to the Cardinals twice).

Regardless, the Cardinals were taking Jonah Williams — a guard I’d love to have, but the 49ers need a pass rusher. Badly. They have so much stacked on that defensive line and need someone on the edge who can get to the quarterback. Doing so would make DeForest Buckner an absolute juggernaut.

Nick Bosa very well could be the guy to come to the 49ers, but the skid they’re on would have to continue for eight games. While the loss to Arizona provides some confidence that this may happen, I do think the 49ers are better than their record indicates and may rip off some wins.

Maybe.
