This narrative is getting more and more logs added to the fire.

The narrative that the Arizona Cardinals will pass on Kyler Murray continues. Another insider supporting the notion the Cardinals may go in a different direction is former NFL wide receiver Antonio Bryant, who says not only is Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa No. 1 on the Cardinals board, but Josh Rosen is the QB.

Do you think this is another smoke screen? NFL analyst Benjamin Allbright does. In fact he thinks the 49ers are directly involved as the Cardinals are trying to get the 49ers to bite on trading for the first pick. He was on The Mighty 1090 in San Diego, California on Monday and offered his own take on this:

“Everything I’ve heard is Kyler Murray, I know there was a report out there by somebody saying that they were considering taking Nick Bosa, but from what I understand and what I’m told, that’s a smokescreen. The Cardinals are trying to get the Niners to move up one spot, the same way the Niners got the Bears to move up one spot for a quarterback a few years ago and I suspect that Steve Keim is not going to out-Lynch John Lynch.”

Might as well get a running tally of Kyler Murray passes at this point. Over the weekend, Kyle mentioned some sources in the Cardinals building were not as high on Murray as one may have hoped. Pete Prisco reported that the Cardinals were passing on Murray as well, but there wasn’t much indication who they would go with instead.

At this point who can you believe?

Maybe it’s a mix of the two: the Cardinals will pass on Murray, but they are trying to covet Bosa to dare the 49ers.

If the Cardinals really were after Bosa, this does not mean he would go No. 1. The Cardinals could decide to go with Quinnen Williams to address the interior on their defense which is a greater need than the edge. It depends on how much of a drop-off Bosa is to a second round pass rusher. There is a drop-off, but just how much depends on what the Cardinals scouting department thinks.

If the Cardinals keep Rosen around, one has to wonder just how much the quarterback would want to be there with his team wanting to break him off after one season. Even if they plan on keeping him, it might be difficult to give it your all when your team gave it its all

What’s your take on this? Do the Cardinals take Murray? Or are all these recent reports smokescreens to scare the 49ers into getting fleeced?
